While Season 6 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is just full of all kinds of bugs, it turns out that slyly on the side, Call of Duty: Mobile has just been racking up the numbers. According to PocketGamer, a new report from analytical firm App Annie says that the mobile version of the popular shooter has now surpassed one billion hours (that's 1,000,000,000) played by users every month.
Call of Duty: Mobile first hit iOS and Android devices on 1st October 2019, bringing the Call of Duty experience to a whole new audience and entertainment medium. Since its release, the mobile game has just been growing in numbers with more and more folks jumping in with the developers TiMi Studios and Tencent Games continuously releasing new content for it.
Activision (who publish the game) vice president of mobile Chris Plummer said, "The success of Call of Duty: Mobile reflects the combination of bringing one of the world's most beloved entertainment IPs to mobile devices that's just as visceral and authentic as the console or PC versions."
While we've all been teleporting out of the Gulag and riding the subway train in Warzone, Call of Duty: Mobile has been living a life of its own, getting all sorts of monthly content updates and even its own Seasons. In fact, Activision has already stated that this month there will be another new season, which is set to celebrate the game's one year anniversary.
"In our first year, we've reached existing fans of this great franchise in new ways, while also reaching new fans from all over the world. Since launch, we've committed ourselves to constantly bringing fresh new content, adding new modes and constantly improving the experience for our players."
