'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3' Remaster Coming Next, Rumour Suggests

Activision is reportedly working on a remastered version of 2011's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, in an apparent move to slap a new coat of paint on the entire original Modern Warfare trilogy. 2007's Modern Warfare was remastered in 2016, while the campaign for 2009's Modern Warfare 2 was just recently remastered as a nice little surprise for fans everywhere.

This latest rumour comes from TheGamingRevolution, a leaker with a fairly solid track record when it comes to reporting on all things Call Of Duty. They only recently claimed that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was on the way, for instance. They were very much on the money with that one, as we now know, and they're now claiming that Modern Warfare 3 Remastered isn't too far behind.

Unfortunately, TheGamingRevolution isn't entirely sure when Modern Warfare 3 Remastered will drop. I'd imagine we can expect the game to arrive in a similar fashion to Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, in that it'll be the game's campaign only, with any remastered multiplayer maps arriving as part of the main game's ongoing free content drops.

I'm also expecting that Activision will once again only officially announce the remaster a few hours ahead of release. You know, after a bunch of leakers, ratings databases, and dataminers have already proved beyond all doubt that the game exists.

For now, we'll just have to wait and see if any further evidence trickles out - which I'm almost certain it will. Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is currently available to play right now (yeah? yeah!) on PS4. Unfortunately for those of you on Xbox One and PC, you'll have to wait till April 30th. No, I don't get the logic behind that one either.

Oh, and while we're on the subject of TheGamingRevolution and Activision leaks, they recently suggested that the publisher has plenty more remasters in the works beyond Call Of Duty. Specifically, it sounds like we can expect at least one Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remaster, as well as more Spyro and Crash Bandicoot remasters.

They've also claimed that Infinity Ward is working on a sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare reboot, which I'm sure won't get confusing quickly. Given that we now have Modern Warfare (2007), Modern Warfare Remastered, and Modern Warfare (2019), we should probably call the upcoming sequel anything other than Modern Warfare 2.
