'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' Glitch Leaks Two More Classic Maps

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare's third season of content is set to drop on April 7th, and will bring with it more new maps, modes, and other treats for players to dive into. While Activision and Infinity Ward have yet to share official details on what we can expect, a recently discovered glitch appears to have given us an early look at the return of two fan-favourite maps.

Following the arrival yesterday's new playlist, a small handful of players seem to have stumbled upon a glitch that's uncovered the existence of the new content. As spotted by @WhosImmortal on Twitter (via CharlieIntel) two of the returning maps set for inclusion in Season 3 of Modern Warfare are Backlot and Village, which appeared in the original Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 3 respectively.

WhosImmortal and a few other players reported being placed into lobbies with these maps, although they'd be kicked out before either one was able to load. Presumably this is because neither map has been fully implemented yet... but with five days until Season 3 goes live, it does make sense that they'd start to accidentally emerge a little early.

Season 1 of Modern Warfare remastered a handful of maps from the original Call Of Duty 4. Similarly, Season 2 heralded the return of several fan-favourites from Modern Warfare 2. It's logical then, that Season 3 would bring back even more classic Modern Warfare maps, including at least one from Modern Warfare 3.

I should also point out that both Village and Backlot were discovered in the game's files along with a number of other classic maps months ago, so even though the fact this glitch was discovered on April 1st, there's no reason to believe it isn't legit.

Oh, and Activision itself even said recently that we should expect more classic maps in Modern Warfare over the next few months. Explaining why the recently announced Modern Warfare 2 Remastered wouldn't feature multiplayer, the publisher said that there are plans to revive more old favourites as part of the 2019 FPS.

Activision wrote in a blog post: "Rather than release a separate, multiplayer experience as a standalone pack, Activision and Infinity Ward are looking to bring more classic map experiences to new life within the Modern Warfare universe as it continues to grow and build over time."

Oh, and in other news, it also sounds like Activision is planning to drop a remastered version of the Modern Warfare 3 campaign later this year. This is clearly a great time to be a Modern Warfare fan.
