'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' Season 6 Is Bringing Back A Classic Weapon

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call Of Duty: Warzone Season 6 is just around the corner. As always, developer Infinity Ward has a bunch of new content planned for us, including new operators, map changes, and a handful of shiny new weapons to get to grips with that the community will inevitably demand be nerfed within hours of release. This is the way.

Fans of the original Modern Warfare games can look forward to the upcoming Season 6 bringing back an old favourite in the form of the R700 sniper rifle. This long-range gun first appeared in the classic Modern Warfare back in 2007, and was widely regarded as one of the better weapons in the game. No doubt longtime players will be more than happy to see it back in action.

We don't know much about how the R700 will work in Season 6 of Modern Warfare and Warzone - at least not officially. The weapon is expected to be unlocked via the Battle Pass, of course, but whether it'll show up as an early unlock or a higher-tier reward remains to be seen. Leaked footage, which you can see above, seems to suggest the R700 will be a bolt-action rifle. If true, that should give it the capacity for one-shot kills... assuming your shots are hitting the right places, that is.

The same leaked footage also confirms that the AS-VAL Assault Rifle and AA12 Shotgun are making their way to Modern Warfare and Warzone in Season 6, which is great to hear. The new season kicks off on September 29th, and will introduce two new operators and an underground subway network that players can use to quickly travel across Warzone's Verdansk map.

There's even talk of a special Zombie Royale mode which would see players come back as zombies rather than go to the Gulag upon death. Various voice lines for just such a mode were recently discovered in Warzone's files, and it sounds like zombified players will be able to wreak havoc in Verdansk. Good thing we'll have the R700 to help keep the undead at bay, eh?
