'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' Update Brings 1v1 To Iconic Map

You know what to do.

The latest multiplayer playlist for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is here, and it pays homage to a classic bit of Call Of Duty history. Even if you're not familiar with the popular FPS franchise, you've more than likely heard someone, at some point, challenge a friend/stranger/foe to 1v1 them on Rust.

Rust is, of course, a much-loved Call Of Duty map that was first introduced back in Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward recently brought the map out of retirement as part of the rebooted Modern Warfare's second season of content. In acknowledgement of Rust's brutal and bloody history, a new playlist called 1v1 Rust is now available as part of the 1v1 Me Bro! game mode. Two players enter, one leaves.

The latest playlist update has also introduced a new playlist called Flotation Oxidation, featuring both Rust and Shipment, another fan-favourite map from the old days. We've also been treated to NVG Reinforce, a nocturnal version of the Reinforce mode, in which players duke it out to capture points and revive teammates.

If you're looking for something a little... larger in scope and scale than a 1v1 match, you're in luck. Recent rumblings suggest that Activision and Infinity Ward are currently gearing up to announce the long-rumoured battle royale mode, which is apparently called Warzone.

Warzone, according to a report earlier this week, will be released in early March. With Modern Warfare updates typically releasing on a Tuesday, most have agreed it'll likely land on March 3rd or March 10th, meaning an official reveal should be imminent.

Based on previous leaks and rumours, Warzone will support up to 200 players, and offer solo, duos, and four-player matches. It'll also have a ping mechanic similar to Apex Legends, and will take place across a massive map made of new and familiar locations.

But even in the midst of all this multiplayer mayhem, it sounds as if Warzone will still have time for a little 1v1 action. Earlier leaks claim that the map will feature a Gulag area in which downed players will be able to 1v1 for a chance to revive and get back into the larger battle. Hopefully we'll learn more soon.
