'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare' Update Brings Back An Intense Mode

Time to head in guns blazing.

Another week, another update for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. As always, Activision was on hand to outline everything we can expect from the next seven days of Infinity Ward's massively popular FPS, and there are some pretty cool additions this time around.

This week's update introduces a number of updated playlists and cosmetic content. Most notably, we can expect the return of the intense 3v3 Gunfight Trios mode, a slight twist on the standard small-scale 2v2 mode that favours tight maps and short rounds. Naturally, having one extra player per team makes those rapid-fire rounds that much more impactful, so be sure to give it a go if you missed it last time it came around.

"Test your skills this week in Modern Warfare with an updated 1v1 playlist and the return of Gunfight trios," Activision wrote in a blog post. "Lead your team to victory in Gunfight trios. Battle with a variety of random weapons on small, close quarters battlefield, including the newly added Bazaar.

"Master the symmetry of Gunfight maps by reading up on our Gunfight Tactical Map Intel articles and ready up to take on any opponent."

We're also getting an updated 1v1 Me Bro Playlist on Rust, with cool change to the Radar. "Hop into the updated 1v1 Me Bro playlist where the radar is permanently on," Activision wrote. "Utilize the constant radar pings to plan your attack but be wary because your opponent knows your location as well."

It'll be interesting to see what that adds to battles. I'm assuming it'll just shorten the length of bouts considerably, but always knowing where the enemy is - and having them know where you are - sounds like a suitably tense experience, so I'm down to check it out.

Finally, there's the Mace Operator Bundle, which includes the 'Metal Phantom' Operator skin, two weapon blueprints, the 'Mace to the Face' Finishing Move, two tier skips, and more. But while there's plenty to dig into over the next week, fans are still wondering exactly where this long-rumoured battle royale mode is.

Warzone, as it's apparently called, is expected to be released early this month. That's according to recent reports anyway, which suggest Activision will be dropping the free, standalone mode any day now. The expectation was that it would release on either March 3rd or March 10th, as Infinity Ward typically drops big updates for Modern Warfare on a Tuesday.

Updates for the shooter don't tend to go live until around 5pm, so there's a chance Warzone could still drop today. It's important to note we haven't heard anything official from Activision or Infinity Ward on the mode yet, so there's every chance we could be in for a longer wait than was initially reported.
