'Battlefield 6' Insider Predicts Major Player Shift From Call Of Duty

A well-known industry insider has hinted that despite Activision's Call of Duty series reigning supreme, the release of the next Battlefield game, Battlefield 6 will draw big numbers away from CoD. Tom Henderson, who's known for leaking large-scale FPS information, has now indicated that the success of Battlefield will be huge and not rely on actual sales of the game. Some believe this to be a subscription service, like Xbox Game Pass hint, or it could be entirely free-to-play.

Though Call of Duty is doing incredibly well at the moment, for example with Warzone's new Verdansk '84 map (which you can see below). Though players might prefer Battlefield 6 after release after so much time away from the franchise. A tweet that Tom Henderson put out confidently says, "So many people are going to move from CoD to Battlefield in the next 12 months. I'm that confident I even sold all my $ATVI (Activision) stock for $EA (EA)" In a follow up shortly after, the leaker goes on to say, "FYI - Selling my stock has nothing to do with premium sales of Battlefield".

So that's a lot of information we need to think about. Henderson is so confident in players changing franchise focus that he's literally bet money on it. Now that's putting your money where your mouth is, right? Additionally, he's hinted that Battlefield 6 is going to be released in a way that means people aren't going to be actually buying copies. Our thoughts instantly go to something like Xbox Game Pass or a free-to-play model. Neither is confirmed, but either is possible as EA has free-to-play titles under its belt already. But remember they've also has teamed up with Xbox Game Pass to bring EA Play to the service too.

So, what will it be that convinces players to move franchises? Perhaps the gameplay is really top tier, maybe the download sizes are smaller, or perhaps CoD players are just looking forward to something that isn't Warzone after being stuck inside with it for a year. When Battlefield 6 releases some time this year, we'll find out.
