Call Of Duty Unveils Completely Overhauled Anti-Cheat System

There is it ladies and gentlemen, friends and enemies, early birds and night owls - Call of Duty's new anti-cheat system. The FPS franchise has been struggling with the number of cheaters that have been appearing in its game, especially in the case of Call of Duty: Warzone. It's gotten so bad that it's led fans to quit the game entirely, but hopefully, this new development will fix many of the complaints players have. Hopefully, new anti-cheat Ricochet is what we've been waiting for.

The Call of Duty team have now revealed Ricochet to try and combat the huge number of cheaters Warzone and mainline CoD games have experienced. The developers put out a dedicated blog post on the anti-cheat which gives us a lot of answers on the questions that players may have.

Here are some of our favourite Warzone wins and fails...

First of all, Ricochet is described as: "a multi-faceted approach to combat cheating, featuring new server-side tools which monitor analytics to identify cheating, enhanced investigation processes to stamp out cheaters, updates to strengthen account security, and more. Ricochet Anti-Cheat's backend anti-cheat security features will launch alongside Call of Duty: Vanguard, and later this year with the Pacific update coming to Call of Duty: Warzone."

Anti-cheats are a little more complicated than, well let's just flick this switch and yay, no more cheaters. It'll take a lot of work to maintain the system so people aren't getting around it. Additionally, there may be complaints about how the anti-cheat affects your system - Valorant's brutal anti-cheat system was especially criticised upon release for how it affected PC performance outside of just the game.

If you want to know more about Ricochet and what you can expect from the system, you can read all about it on the Call of Duty blog.
