'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Adding Controversial New Feature To Verdansk '84 Map

Unless you've been living under a rock at the bottom of the ocean, or if you just don't play video games, you've probably heard about all the changes Call Of Duty: Warzone has been through recently. The original Verdansk map was wiped away by a nuclear missile, replaced by... well, Verdansk - but a version of Verdansk set in 1984.

Everything in Verdansk '84 is pretty much the same with a few differences here and there, something that's kind of annoyed fans who were expecting a more drastic change. The good news is that developer Raven Software has a few more tricks up its sleeve. The bad news is that these changes might not be for everyone.

Before we go on, take a look at our retrospective video on the classic Verdansk map. We had some good times out there, didn't we?

According to a new survey sent out by Activision (via CallofDutyHope and CharlieINTEL), Warzone may be introducing a new fast travel system that's being referred to as "The Red Doors".

Eagle-eyed fans will probably have already noticed a number of red doors scattered across Verdansk '84, and they've also appeared in a lot of the promotional material for Season Three. These doors, it seems, have a mysterious quality that will allow players to travel instantly from one end of the map to the other. I guess that "realism" Infinity Ward were so keen on has fully left the building at this point.

Warzone did have a fast travel system before, to be fair, but the Subway station was a more tangible and believable way to get around the map than simply walking through a magic door. Unsurprisingly, fans are divided over the potential inclusion of this new feature.

It's unclear when this new fast travel system will arrive in Warzone, but we can assume it'll probably arrive with the next update for Season Three. Watch this space.
