'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Developers Remove Helicopters To Work On Exploit

Giving helicopters the chop(per).

If you've jumped into Call Of Duty: Warzone in the past 24 hours or so, you've probably noticed that helicopters have been removed from the battle royale. While some seem to be pretty chuffed the divisive vehicle has been taken out of play, others are pretty miffed that developer Infinity Ward seemingly once again pulled a feature with no reason or explanation.

However, it would appear that Infinity Ward had a very good reason for giving choppers the chop. As far as we can tell, the lack of helicopters is merely a temporary solution while the team works to fix a glitch with the vehicle that players were beginning to exploit in increasingly irritating ways.

While I've not been unlucky enough to encounter this issue myself, the past week or so has seen players complain of an irritating exploit where an entire squad can jump into a helicopter and glitch under the map. This effectively allows them to travel around "underground", murdering any players unlucky enough to be on top of the deadly vehicle.

There was absolutely nothing players could do to stop this cheap death, and less still anyone could do to take out the chopper, what with it being underground and all. Unfortunately, the more people complained, the more other players realised it was something they could easily try for themselves. And so the problem got worse.

We've seen our fair share of exploits related to going under the map, but this one was by far the worst. Having a full squad roaming underneath the map, untouchable and unpredictable, was a nightmare that plagued players everywhere. While Infinity Ward (typically) hasn't communicated why it removed helicopters, it's widely accepted that it pulled the vehicle so that it can address this issue.

It's not clear when helicopters will be back in the game, but I hope it's not too long. I've enjoyed using them in Warzone a lot, not because they let me dive under the map and go on murder sprees, but because my team and I can use them to clear large distances quickly and scope out new areas to set up shop as the gas closes in. You know, the way you're supposed to use the helicopter in Warzone.
