'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Developers Confirm Most-Requested Mode Is Coming Soon

By far the most-requested feature in Call Of Duty: Warzone is the addition of a two-player Duos mode. Dropping side by side with one of your best buddies and taking on the world in a heated battle royale adventure? What a way to live.

It's currently possible to drop in pairs as part of the game's existing Trios and Quads... but this obviously puts you at a disadvantage when every other squad is made up of three or four players. Aside from one expert-level troll a few weeks ago, we're all sadly still waiting for the proper Duos experience to arrive.

The good news is that there's light on the horizon. Multiple leaks and datamines over the last month or so strongly suggested that Duos would be dropping as part of Warzone Season 3. Now, developers Infinity Ward and Raven Software have confirmed that the much-requested mode is finally coming soon.

In a recent interview with GamerGen (thanks, CODTracker), Raven's Creative Director Amos Hodge said that the team is fully aware of the demand for Duos. As such, it's currently in development and should be released once they've cleared up any and all lingering bugs. That doesn't give us a huge indication of how much longer we have to wait, but it's a promising sign nonetheless.

"We had Duos on Plunder, but I'm not sure where Duos is, we got some bugs to work out with Duos," Hodge said. "But we're listening to the community - if you noticed, we launched with just Trios, then we added Solos, the we added Quads, so we will get to a place where we add Duos in the future. There's just no exact time I can give you for now, but Duos is coming."

In the same interview, Infinity Ward's Narrative Director Taylor Kurosaki also said that the teams are aware of the feedback regarding Warzone's rotating modes. Fans have often made their feelings clear when a popular mode is suddenly replaced by something new with little explanation. At the start of Season 3, for example, Trios was removed for Quads before both came to coexist.

Kurosaki said that the reason for this is that the teams are still trying to work out which modes should be in the game as standard and which ones should be rotational. This is still a relatively new game, after all, and balance, matchmaking, and fan demand are all factors.

"We're trying to figure out what these core modes are," he said. "It's funny - I know Amos is active on social medias, and I'm as well - when you add Quads, people are like 'Where are the Trios?' And then you go to Trios and they go 'Where are the Quads?' "

"Everyone wants to play the game in a slightly different way, which is really cool and exciting, so we're trying to figure out what the standard modes are, and what are the modes that works better as sort of a short time, mixing it up kind of situation. We're listening and continually tweaking it, and like Amos said, we're supporting this game full force. It's been amazing to see the power of these two studios fully focused on this game right now."
