Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call Of Duty: Warzone are fully embracing the spirit of the Halloween season with some unlikely crossovers.
As we reported yesterday, it looks like the popular shooter is indeed getting a cosmetic bundle inspired by the gory Saw franchise, but Infinity Ward hasn't stopped there. In addition to a Saw bundle that includes a horrifying Billy the Puppet Operator skin, we can also look forward to a special Leatherface Operator Skin. Yes, that's the Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I'm not sure what other Leatherface I could be referring to.
The good folk over at COD Tracker recently added a ton of Halloween-themed skins and cosmetic bundles to its database, implying that Infinity Ward and Activision will likely be making these available to purchase soon. The Haunting Of Verdansk event kicks off October 20th, so I'd expect we'll see these new in-game items around then.
Billy The Puppet looks about as freaky as you'd expect, given that in the Saw movies he's a literal puppet and not a fully grown man. Leatherface, meanwhile, looks kind of naff. He looks less like a crazed killer wearing a mask made from human skin and more like an accountant who's nipped to Tesco on his lunch break to get a "Chainsaw Killer" mask for the Halloween party.

While the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw bundles are the most notable by far, there are a decent number of other spooky cosmetics coming to Modern Warfare and Warzone. There's a really cool Grim Reaper skin for Ghost, and a Dia de los Muertos Mace skin that I'd happily wear every day of the year.
There are some other bundles that mostly offer custom calling cards and weapon skins too, but they're never as interesting as character skins, are they? All in all, not a bad start for the Modern Warfare/Warzone Halloween event, and I'm sure there's plenty more to come.
Last month, dataminers uncovered evidence of a Zombie Royale mode. According to various voice clips uncovered in the Warzone game files, this limited-time mode would see players come back as zombies rather than go to the Gulag after dying. It also sounds as if zombified players have a chance to become human again by finding and consuming enough flesh - presumably by downing and eating up any surviving enemies.
The Haunting Of Verdansk kicks off October 20th and runs through till November 3rd. I can't wait to be chased around Verdansk by a zombified Billy The Puppet. That's not gonna nightmares at all.
