'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Is Probably Bringing Back Alcatraz For New Map

Verdansk, Verdansk, Verdansk. We know it like the back of our hand by now - since the release of Call of Duty: Warzone in March of this year, we have been dropping into Verdansk until we're all familiar with every blade of grass, every sniper spot, and every time we've died to a Juggernaut on this hellish plain. Don't get us wrong, in ten years time we'll still be talking about how much we loved this map but it might be time for something fresh. Which is why the rumour of Alcatraz coming back is of particular interest, don't you think?

According to Twitter account BlackOpsLeaks, Alcatraz is making a reappearance in the Call of Duty Series. Possibly renamed Rebirth Island, the famous prison complex would actually make an incredible base for a new Warzone map.

COD fans first encountered Alcatraz in Black Ops 4 as a map for Blackout and for the Zombies mode. If it were to reappear as a battle royale map, though, it would likely have to be a fair bit bigger to accommodate all the players parachuting in - or perhaps that number will change too.

The leak, however, revolves around a piece of art probably going to be used to advertise the new map once it's released. It shows what looks like Alcatraz with Rebirth Island, stamped across the front. Some scribbled writing looks like someone has drawn on the image as battle plans of some sort. If it's a fake piece of concept art, it's a very good piece of fake concept art.

So if/when this map is coming to the game, when will it arrive? Well, we know that Warzone is due to synchronize with Cold War on December 10th along with Season One starting so perhaps that's a good sign for when this map may appear. Until then we'll just have to wait on Activision to confirm or deny this new map's existence.
