Have you ever noticed the birds in Call Of Duty: Warzone? I know I have. In fact, there hasn't been a single time that I've looked to the sky during a game of the battle royale and not had to double-take to ensure that a bird flying through the air isn't actually an enemy parachuting down to my position.
But beyond existing solely to trick those of us with less-than-stellar eyesight, it seems that the birds in Warzone actually serve an entirely different purpose. Specifically, it appears that the winged critters can actually help the most attentive players out there track down enemies who might be hiding nearby.
Noahthegoofy documented his findings over on Reddit. While playing a game, Noah saw a flock of birds take flight from several feet away, as if startled by some movement. Sure enough, an enemy player's head popped out from where the birds had just scattered, giving the Noah the chance to take the kill.
It's worth noting that this could just be a coincidence. While some are convinced by Noah's video, others - including Noah - would rather collect more data before making a final judgment on whether or not the birds play more of a role in Warzone than we thought. Some have speculated that the birds flying away could have been entirely random, while others think their movement could be tied to the gas circle.
"I've had birds fly away from my position when I'm moving in the woods while in the circle so think it might be a thing," commented _my_eye_holes_, who was in agreement with a number of players who believe the bird movement is an actual feature.
"I have watched the same area and same flock of birds and their animation spawn and fly off without any enemies present," argued lispychicken. "So I think this is just good timing for you, and a random bird animation that hosed ole boy."
Regardless, this is definitely something Warzone players should keep an eye on moving forward. Learning to track the birds could really change the game and give players in the know that extra edge.
In other Warzone news, it's time to get prepared for Season 4. Activision announced that the next season of content kicks off on June 3rd, and comes with new Operators, weapons, and more mysteries to unravel as things start to heat up in Verdansk.
