'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Players Are Confused By Mysterious New Item

What could it be for?

It seems the latest update for Call Of Duty: Warzone has come with a little more than we bargained for. Players have started coming across strange keycards scattered throughout the battle royale's massive map, although nobody has any idea what to do with them or what on Earth they're supposed to unlock.

There have been all kinds of mysterious discoveries in Warzone since it launched back in March. We've seen laptops and phones that can be interacted with, as well as locked-down bunkers whose contents are begging to be uncovered. But these keycards are perhaps the most tangible new discovery yet, since players can actually pick them up and add them to their inventory

I've yet to come across one myself, but it appears these keycards started spawning from the high-tier orange loot crates that can be found in Warzone as of the game's massive update earlier this week. Despite being an obtainable item, these keycards have no immediately discernible use. It's driving the community round the bend, naturally.

Heck, I'm not that into Warzone and even I'm invested in find out what they do at this point. The most immediate and obvious solution was that these keycards could be used to get inside the locked bunkers, but this doesn't seem to be the case. They also don't have any relation to the password-protected laptops... so what are they?

Sadly, most players seem to agree that if the keycards have a function, it hasn't been activated by Infinity Ward yet. Some are speculating that they're for an event that's yet to come, and that they will be used to open those bunkers eventually. It's also been posited that once those damn bunkers are open, a bunch of zombies will come pouring out. Maybe we shouldn't be in such a rush to unlock those doors after all, eh?

In other Warzone news, dataminers recently uncovered a ton of new modes as part of the latest update. While none of these contain any clues as to the keycards or bunkers (at least not as far as I can tell), there looks to be some pretty interesting stuff on the horizon.

References were found to a handful of new playlists, including a "Classic" battle royale mode that strips away features like cash, buy stations, and the Gulag. It also sounds like there's going to be a mode where the gas moves way faster, and another where the gas is constantly closing in without stopping. A lot to be excited for, then.
