'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Weapon Exploit Turns Assault Rifle Into Unstoppable Shotgun

A new exploit in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call Of Duty: Warzone is allowing players to turn a shotgun into a deadly long-range killer. Developer Infinity Ward has already confirmed that it's working on a fix, but some of the more industrious players out there are currently using this time to make the most of the exploit, effectively ruining the game for everyone else.
So what exactly is going on? A recent weapon tuning update introduced as part of Season 5 saw some tweaking made to the popular FR 5.56 assault rifle, increasing the effective range of the weapon so that it's more powerful at a distance. An unintended side effect of this update is that the weapon's under-barrel shotgun attachment is now able to get one-shot kills at seriously ridiculous ranges.
As documented by various streamers and YouTubers, the FR 5.56 shotgun attachment is currently capable of taking out an enemy with full health and full armor plates at up to 15 meters. Take a look at the exploit in action in the video below, or via this link.
Popular streamer TheXclusiveAce posits that the FR 5.56's range buff was also mistakenly applied to its under-barrel shotgun attachment, which is why it's currently a terrifying harbinger of death from so far away. Infinity Ward took to Twitter to confirm that it's aware of the issue, and that it's working on a patch to correct the problem. We should expect to see this "as soon as possible".
Season 5 of Modern Warfare and Warzone has been hit particularly hard by various bugs, glitches, and other issues. Just last week, players reported coming across a widespread weapon texture corruption glitch that was ruining entire games. Infinity Ward was able to sort things out with a quick patch on PS4 and PC... but Xbox One players were forced to download a massive 66GB patch to get it fixed.
It's not entirely clear why this latest season has been hit by bugs so much harder, but Infinity Ward does seem to be fairly on top of addressing them. Let's just hope this particular weapon exploit is the last major issue in the game for a while. I'm sure the team at Infinity Ward could definitely use a break.
