Call Of Duty: Warzone and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare players on Xbox One have been forced to download a monstrous update, and they're none too pleased. Developer Infinity Ward released a patch over the weekend that promised to fix a particularly troubling weapon texture corruption bug that has been bothering players since the launch of Season 5.

PlayStation 4 owners downloaded a light 1.2GB patch to get the issue sorted. On PC, players needed to download either a 0.88GB or 1.83GB patch depending on whether they only owned Warzone or Modern Warfare and Warzone. Xbox One players, on the other hand, had to make space for a ridiculous 66.3GB patch.

For comparison, the entire Season 5 update - which included new maps, modes, and other content - clocked in at around 49.8GB on Xbox One. So why does this patch, which was only to fix one glitch, come in at such a hefty number?

"Due to an unforeseen bug with the Microsoft patch delivery process, this download requires Xbox users to re-download files they already have, but it does NOT impact the overall install size," Infinity Ward explained. "We're working closely with Microsoft to ensure future updates are smaller in size."

Understandably, Xbox One users really aren't happy about this, especially since the last few updates have been so chunky. Once this latest patch has been installed, Xbox One players will have to deal with an install footprint of 99.5GB for Warzone, and close to 183GB for the full game. PC gamers have been put in a similar position recently, and are far from thrilled about the fact that the game now takes up over 200GB.

"UNFORESEEN BUG? REALLY?" sethouttanowhere vented over on the Modern Warfare subreddit. "You make me re-download 65gb just a week after downloading them and all you have to say to me is 'unforeseen bug?' Well thanks Activision, thanks Microsoft. Also, some people don't understand that not everybody in the world has a top notch connection. Far from it. Even if you live in developed countries and even if you're economically stable."

With Modern Warfare and Warzone continuing to guzzle so much space on all platforms, more and more players are wondering with each passing update whether or not it's still worth it. If Infinity Ward wants to keep players invested as Call Of Duty 2020 releases, it's clear that something needs to change - fast.
