Call Of Duty Zombies Could Get A Standalone Game, Hints Insider

Zombies have been inseparable from the Call of Duty franchise for a very long time now. Though the games often have a super serious campaign, a highly competitive online multiplayer (or two, now Warzone is around), a third Zombies mode is expected to be enjoyed by fans when it comes out. This PvE mode is great for sitting with your mates and coordinating against waves and waves of enemies, and not worrying so much about spawn campers or guns that need to be nerfed in other modes. So, it's interesting that an insider is hinting that a Zombies mode might be breaking off into its own game entirely.

A Twitter post from industry insider Tom Henderson (who's known for leaking many Call of Duty secrets), says that Zombies is evolving beyond just being a third mode, whatever that means. The tweet, spotted by Comicbook, shows that Henderson thinks that after Zombies pile into Warzone's Verdansk map, there will be a shift in the future of Zombies as a part of Call Of Duty.

The tweet reads, "There's BIG things planned for zombies. It won't be just a '3rd gamemode' for long." Does this mean that there is a Zombies game on the way? Does it mean that, like Warzone, the Zombie aspect of the games will become a title in its own right?

Well, if we're looking back through Henderson's tweets, he has previously hinted at Zombies expanding after the official reveal of the Outbreak event. "Outbreak looks phenomenal... And it's just the beginning," was posted back at the end of February, yet again implying something big might be on the horizon.

Though, we should remind you, this is a leak, basically a rumour, and by no means official information. We're not able to confirm that a new Zombies game is on the way - but we'd definitely consider that to be a possibility with the way Henderson is talking about the undead. Keep your ears and eyes open, eh?
