The Season 5: Reloaded update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone has dropped, bringing with it a bevvy of new content including weapons, maps, modes, operators and a rather sizable new event.

Players will be able to download the latest update which weighs in at between 10-16GB (this is COD, after all) and includes a brand new Games Of Summer event. Running from August 28th to September 7th, the event will encourage both Modern Warfare and Warzone players to enter and compete in a series of trials to earn points and medals.

Players will be able to compete on behalf of their country in each of the different shooting-gallery-style challenges. Think of it as like the Olympics, but it's just a handful of the events and it's Call Of Duty. Also Captain Price is there

The trials will be staggered out across the course of the event, in the following order (via Polygon):

-Gun Course (August 28th) - clear the course, eliminate the enemies, spare civilians

-Price's Alley (August 29th) - clear endless targets with a handgun, spare civilians

-Risky Parkour (August 30th) - run through toxic gas to clear the house

-Shooting Range (August 31st) - destroy all targets in the area

-Marksman Challenge (September 1st) - quickly kill long-distance targets with a sniper rifle

Attaining medals in the various events will unlock certain, tiered rewards for the players who prove themselves to be the best of the best. Naturally, Activision hasn't revealed what all of these rewards would be, because some things are best left to the imagination I guess. We do know that nabbing a gold in any event will net you the Legendary Juliet rifle blueprint, though.

Acti did detail that players will receive the usual battle pass-style rewards like XP tokens, weapon and vehicle skins. At the end of the Games Of Summer event, medals will be totted up and counted based on the weighting of participants in each country, to determine the overall winner of the challenge.

So, what else is going on outside of the Games Of Summer event? Plenty, apparently! For starters, there's a brand new weapon called the FiNN LMG. It can be attained by completing in-game challenges or purchased as part of the Mainframe bundle as a special weapon blueprint. The FiNN walks the line between an LMG and an assault rifle, which presumably means a withering rate of fire coupled with deadly accuracy.

Warzone has a new mode called King Slayer, which is essentially a team deathmatch inside the battle royale map. Instead of constantly closing in, the gas circle will relocate to different parts of the map to create an ever-moving battleground that teams must scramble to, to do battle. The top player within the top 5 teams will be marked as the "king". Killing the king will dole out a free Killstreak to the successful assassin. Sounds like a decently fun little mode, all told.

There's also a new Gunfight Mode coming to Warzone, that sees players battle it out on a remodeled version of Verdansk Stadium's pitch. The mode will be available for free to all Warzone players, and will run for the duration of the Games Of Summer event.

Finally, there will be a new Modern Warfare Ground War spin-off called Ground War Reinforce, that sees players capturing three flags in the middle of the map. If you die attempting to capture a flag, you won't be reincarnated until your team successfully captures one of the flags, so, maybe bring some snacks along for the ride.

Oh there's also a new Italian Operator called Morte and the usual refreshing of the cosmetic stores, so enjoy those too. All in all, it looks like Season 5: Reloaded is set to be one of the biggest we've seen yet and should keep us occupied until the next iteration of Call Of Duty - Black Ops Cold War - comes out later this year.
