Chris Pratt Responds To Mario Casting In Bizarre Video

He's living the dream

In case you missed it, Chris Pratt is playing Mario in the upcoming Mario Bros animated movie. The internet is widely... sceptical, let's say, of the casting since Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario we've all known and loved for decades is also appearing in the film as just a cameo here and there. Instead, Pratt will be Mario, Jack Black is playing Bowser, and Anya Talyor-Joy will be playing Princess Peach. You can see the full cast here.

So although there seem to be reservations about Pratt as Mario, he has put out a little video, celebrating his casting and reminiscing about what it means to him to be able to play the Italian plumber. He even does a little Mario impression which he then jokes about it not being the voice that the team worked on for the final film. It's all a little bizarre.

Here are some of the Nintendo Online updates that were revealed at the Nintendo Direct...

In the Instagram video, he says then when he grew up in Washington: "There was this coin-operated laundromat near my house, and it had Super Mario Bros., the original arcade game. Oh, I loved that game.

"I never had a quarter, it felt like, I'd either steal them from the wishing well," he chuckles, before having some sort of realisation that he might have stolen someone's wish using that quarter on the machine.

"The quarter I stole out of the wishing well to play Super Mario Bros. has come true that I get to be the voice of Mario, but I clearly stole someone else's wish. So just waiting for that row of karma dominoes to come crashing down on me, but as it is right now, 'it's-a me, Mario'."

He then goes on to say that the voice he and the team crafted is still a secret but the project is a dream come true. You can watch the entire video on Chris Pratt's Instagram right here.
