Classic Grand Theft Auto Characters Remastered In Stunning Crossover

A real meeting of minds.

Despite having released Grand Theft Auto V on approximately 56 consoles in the last ten years, Rockstar Games doesn't really "do" looking back. Oh, fans have clamoured for modern remakes of games like Bully, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and The Warriors for years now, but Rockstar only cares about focusing on the future. And also re-releasing GTA V again. But mostly the future.

As always, it's up the immensely talented fans out there to imagine what a classic GTA game might look like if revived for next-gen hardware. We've seen some impressive videos before that add fresh coats of paint to the likes of San Andreas and Vice City, but these new 3D models of all the classic GTA protagonists from artist Hossein Diba (via Kotaku) are a cut above the rest. Several cuts above, in fact.

Diba has taken a bunch of low-poly GTA heroes (and Niko from GTA IV), and beautifully remastered them. Seeing Tommy, CJ, Niko, and Claude all stood together is enough to make me salivate over the idea of an epic GTA crossover. Or a next-gen remaster collection. Or both, actually. Why not both?

Anyone, take a look at a few of Diba's awesome pieces below - or head directly to their ArtStation page if you'd prefer.

Earlier this week, it was found that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the game fans most want to see remade on next-gen consoles, with Vice City and Bully also in the mix.

Mazuma Mobile recently analysed over 400 games and their Google search volumes to compile the top 50 titles fans most want to see remade in 2021."The analysis reveals that GTA: San Andreas ranked top of the wanted remake list," they explained in a press release. "The game released back in 2004 is still as popular, with its clever story line, vast mapped area and with the graphics being some of the best of its time, this video game lives in an era of nostalgia for great video gaming that is still thriving even in 2021!"

Proof, if any were needed, that Rockstar could release a remastered collection of the original 3D games and bring in sickening amounts of money. Or they could just re-release GTA V on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles for the same results, I guess.
