Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare's first season of content continues to chug along. Regular updates to the Infinity Ward-developed shooter have delivered a formidable amount of new maps, modes, missions, and other fun treats over the last few weeks. The latest update goes live today (December 18th), and introduces a ton of new content that I think longtime fans of the FPS franchise are going to be very happy with.

The latest content drop adds the new Cranked game mode, as well as a new operator and new Spec Ops missions. Most exciting of all, though, is the return of two fan-favourite maps that were first introduced in the original 2007 version of Modern Warfare: Shipment and Vacant.

Cranked, which appeared in Call Of Duty: Ghosts and Infinite Warfare, is described by Activision as a "fast-paced, high-octane Deathmatch where players race against the clock to get kills or suffer an explosive fate". Basically, you're thrown into a timed match and need to embark on a bigger killing spree than any of the other players to win.

The new Spec-Ops missions are Operation Strongbox, Classic Special Ops Disinform, and Classic Special Ops Bomb Squad. You'll also be able to earn double weapon XP from all Spec Ops content between December 20th and the 23rd, so get cracking. As for the returning maps? Shipment will be available in both 6v6 and Gunfight modes, while Vacant will be exclusive to 6v6.

But wait, there's more! Nikto is the new operator joining the Allegiance faction. Activision described this new fighter as "a former Russian FSB deep cover agent that has been reassigned to Spetsnaz in the Allegiance forces". You'll be able to get Nikto as part of the Nikto Operator Bundle, which also includes "a watch, weapon blueprints, and other personalisation items".

On the subject of fresh cosmetics, a brand new 'Holideadly' bundle is also available in the in-game store. Ugh @ that name. Provided you really want to get your Christmas on, this bundle comes with an ornament weapon charm, two festive Operator skins, a Holiday themed weapon blueprint, and more. Santa would be proud. Probably.

Finally, a number of maps will be getting a festive-themed makeover to better reflect this magical time of year. Because nothing says "Christmas" quite like running around and shooting people in the head, right? Head to the Gunfight map Docks to see it peppered with festive wreaths and wreaths and fairy lights.

These content drops tend to go live around 6pm in the UK, so head to the game around then to see if Santa/Activision has been good to you.
