'COD: Warzone' Halloween Event Is Freaking Players Out With Jumpscares And Creepy Ghosts

Infinity Ward has really gone all out with its massive Halloween event in Call Of Duty: Warzone. The Haunting Of Verdansk has been a hugely popular success, offering creepy new ways to play, fun cosmetic rewards, and all manner of spooky secrets to track down.

Earlier this week, for example, one unlucky player stumbled upon what looked to be Leatherface's house in the Verdansk Farmland. The star of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was added as an Operator Skin at the start of the Halloween event, but the fact that there's a house players can go to to find chopped up body parts and hear the ghostly echoes of a chainsaw? That's some real extra mile business from Infinity Ward, and we love to see it.

As it turns out, however, Leatherface is just the tip of this frightening iceberg. Players who have gotten stuck into The Haunting Of Verdansk have come across all manner of freakish secrets, unexplained phenomenon, and some good old-fashioned jumpscares.

One of the coolest things about the new event is that it comes with a ton of free Halloween rewards that can be found in trick-or-treat themed supply boxes dotted around the map. The treats are, of course, cosmetic goodies and other rewards. Unfortunately you also run the risk of coming face-to-face with a trick, which would look a little something like the cruel jumpscare below.

There have even been multiple ghost sightings across Verdansk, which is very cool. Players have reported seeing spectral figures at the hospital, while others have seen what looks like black smoke shifting through the woods. Others still, including our friend from the Leatherface house, have seen ghosts lurking near windows, vanishing as soon as they're spotted.

Hell, there's even an entire ghost train that can be seen thundering through the trainyard before disappearing in a flash. Why? Why on Earth not.

Who knows what else is lurking out there in the dark right now? Infinity Ward has clearly had a ton of fun packing all these secrets into Warzone, and I'd bet there are more left to find. There's one rumour that suggests Leatherface himself is actually out there somewhere and will kill any players who get near. Unfortunately there's no concrete evidence of that right now, so you'll just have to get out there and look around. If you're feeling brave enough, that is.
