It looks an awful lot like we're barreling towards an announcement for Company Of Heroes 3. Relic Entertainment, the developer behind the first two Company Of Heroes games, has kicked off a countdown over on Twitch that looks very much like it's teasing some kind of World War II announcement.

There are a little over nine hours left on the stream at the time of writing. It's currently playing grainy old WWII-style footage, which would strongly suggest that whatever is being teased has something to do with Company Of Heroes. Whatever it is, it looks like we'll find out 6pm BST today (July 13).

The World War II-themed real-time strategy game hasn't been seen since 2013's Company Of Heroes 2, but it's absolutely a series that a lot of people have come to to love thanks to its punishing tactical gameplay and cinematic battlegrounds. It's safe to say fans are struggling to manage their excitement and keep their expectations in check as they desperately wait for the stream to count down.

While this Twitch countdown could be related to an expansion for Company Of Heroes 2 rather than a brand-new third entry, it's unlikely. As PC Gamer points out, the second instalment hasn't seen any major updates for roughly three years now. It's far more likely that we'd be getting Company Of Heroes 3 at this point.

While the original Company Of Heroes was widely acclaimed when it launched way back in 2006, Company Of Heroes 2 didn't quite hit the spot in the same way for a lot of fans - specifically the ones who were looking for a little more to have changed between the first and second games. While more of the same would certainly be welcome in Company Of Heroes 3, we can't help but hope any potential third entry would take a few more risks. Let's wait and see, eh?
