Wumpa, there it is.

Despite a few dissenting voices who seem really upset with the redesign, most gamers are pretty damn excited for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. And why not? It sounds like the real deal.

Developer Toys For Bob cut their teeth on Crash when they helped out with the N.Sane Trilogy. Now the studio has been given the dream job of creating an entirely new game in the style of the original trilogy. Based everything we've heard so far, Crash 4 could be the authentic experience we're craving.

Or at least, it could be close to the authentic experience we're craving. According to a new report from VG247, the upcoming platformer will contain that most dreaded of features: in-game purchases. That's definitely something we didn't have back in 1996.

As you can see if you head to the Microsoft store page for Crash 4, there's a tiny line of the text underneath the big blue pre-order button on the right. It says that the game "offers in-app purchases".

While in-game purchases can often be a way for a publisher to sneak all manner of shady crap into their game, it's also worth noting that this isn't always the case. The store description doesn't explain what these purchases consist of, and it's highly unlikely to be anything that insidious.

We already know that pre-ordering the game can give players access to exclusive skins for Crash and Coco, so the most likely scenario is that you'll have the option to pay for various skins and cosmetic stuff. I really can't imagine it'll be anything more than that.

Crash 4 is releasing on October 2nd this year, so we don't have long to wait. When we spoke to Toys For Bob co studio head Paul Yan earlier this month, it was clear that the team were passionate about bringing Crash back in style.

"It's been 12 years since the last new Crash game," Yan explained."Technically, this game is the eighth in the line. But we're very deliberately calling this game Crash 4: It's About Time. And we're calling it Crash 4 because we're positioning this game as a true sequel to the first three games developed by Naughty Dog."

"We're able to get a pulse on the community about what people appreciate about the games that we can react to now as opposed to trying to draw up on memories of what the game was."
