'Cyberpunk 2077' Could Be Delayed To 2021, Claims Established Leaker

Here we go again...

Could Cyberpunk 2077 get delayed again? It's certainly a question at the forefront of many a gamer's mind as we inch ever closer to the revised December 10th release date. After all, CD Projekt RED's sci-fi RPG had already been pushed back from November 19th, which itself was a delay from a planned September launch. What's one more delay at this point?

After four release dates and three delays, it's certainly reasonable to wonder if Cyberpunk 2077 could get nudged back one last time. While CDPR made it fairly clear to investors that the only work left to do involved tightening the game up for a "Day Zero" patch, there have been some rumblings that we might not see the game until 2021.

This rumour - and it is currently just a rumour - comes from industry insider Tiffany Treadmore. Treadmore previously predicted the existence of Half-Life Alyx before Valve officially announced it, as well as the cancellation of E3 2020... although I think most of us saw that second one coming, given global events.

"So, what if #Cyberpunk2077 gets delayed...Again. Like what if it doesn't launch this year," they asked on Twitter. While Treadmore wouldn't give up much more than that, they replied to a fan they've heard "unhappy things" coming out of CDPR.

Rumours further intensified when folk on Twitter pointed out that the December 10th release date had been "removed" from the Cyberpunk 2077 account's bio. However, it's important to note here that according to Wayback Machine, the official account's bio never had the December 10th release date on it, so its absence doesn't really mean anything one way or the other.

What is slightly unsettling is the fact that Adam Kicinski, Joint CEO of CD Projekt and Vice President of business development Michal Nowakowski didn't exactly fill fans with confidence during an investor call after the most recent delay.

"We feel - maybe not comfortable, but confident." Kicinski said in response to a question from investors about whether there'd be any more delays for the long-gestating RPG.

Nowakowski also responded to a separate question about whether or not the December 10th release date would be met with a not-so-assuring "that's more or less what I'm saying, I guess-yes".

Cyberpunk 2077's newest release date is just a few short weeks from now. If we are truly looking at another delay, it's likely to be revealed in the next week or so. Watch this space, but hope for the best.
