CD Projekt Red has unveiled gameplay of the hotly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 running on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 Pro, and it is glittery and gorgeous.

It's no secret that things haven't been smooth and steady sailing for the dystopian role-playing game, so it's pleasing to see the results of the team's efforts pay off in this new gameplay video. The level of detail in the game is dizzying, with character classes that have their own origin story and implications for gameplay, and you'll even be able to trim your character's nails and choose their teeth type. CD Projekt Red are cutting no corners, and one of the quality assurance leads has sunk 175 hours into the game... and they're not finished yet.

The PlayStation 5 gameplay is achieved through backwards compatibility, though there is a shiny next-gen version waiting in the wings, set to launch in 2021. Jackie and V encounter a shoot-out between two of the gangs of Night City, when MaxTac (the city's elite police force) settle the score in their intimidating hover vehicle. The engines cause the rain and rubbish to swirl into the air satisfyingly, and it's clear to see that Cyberpunk 2077 will have some atmospheric moments as well as causing chaos with the character's abilities.

Then, a car chase ensues, where one of the enemies calls out, "Watch your profanity!" while under fire. As announced, there are five types of vehicle in Cyberpunk 2077 (economy, executive, sport, heavy duty, and hypercars) and they all have their own advantages while snaking through the alleyways of Night City. Though, it would feel exceptionally cool to start this car chase while riding one of Keanu Reeves' own motorcycles, which feature in the game in more ways than one.

With the PlayStation 4 Pro gameplay, we see a lot more of the setting and the conversations between characters. This is a little peculiar, as CD Projekt Red explained that it's the current generation of consoles that are causing the hold-up for the game's launch. Anyway, this shows us a short snippet of the Nomad lifepath, where V isn't actually a native of Night City, and instead ekes out an existence on its desert outskirts.

It also shows us how the game is able to swap between first-person and third-person perspectives while on the road, giving us a good look at the ol' rustbucket and the sweeping horizons. It's evident that a lot of time and dedication has been poured into the game, with the fluid, lifelike movements from characters and the cinematic, realistic lighting. Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on December 10th, though some savvy gamer snapped up a copy ahead of schedule.
