'Cyberpunk 2077' Is Getting A Spin-Off Anime Series On Netflix

A new anime based upon the Cyberpunk 2077 universe is in development with Netflix.
Studio Trigger, the team behind Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia, is creating Edgerunners, a new "standalone story set in the same universe" (thanks, PC Gamer).
"The stage is Night City, but everything else is totally new," said Cyberpunk 2077 producer, Saya Elder.
We've yet to see any animation or content just yet, sadly, but the anime - which is expected to be told across ten episodes and land on Netflix in 2022 - will reportedly be a show "that both Cyberpunk fans and those who are not so familiar with the game can enjoy".
In related news, while Cyberpunk 2077 itself might have had its release pushed back until November, its accompanying comic book series will release as planned on 9 September, 2020.
JICYMI, the first issue, Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team, has been created by Cullen Bunn (Harrow County, Uncanny X-Men) and Christopher Mooneyham (Predator, Nightwing) and introduces "an all-original series based on CD Projekt Red's brand-new game Cyberpunk 2077".
The 32-page comic will be published by Dark Horse and set you back $4 (sadly, there's no UK price equivalent just yet).
"Throughout my conversations with characters, there are teases of different ways missions can play out. They may not radically change how the story plays out overall, but it lets me express my character," we said in the GAMINGbible Cyberpunk 2077 preview.
"That's the part of Cyberpunk 2077 that excites me: choice, and seeing those choices reflected in the world. What I'm left cold on from my preview is the game that the story pulls you through. The devotion to immersion makes for a seamless narrative experience, but the environments are very difficult to read. I really want to play the game as a ghost who hacks and sneaks their way through encounters, but it was extremely hard to recognise the bits in the environment that would make that possible.
"And, if I am going to have to resort to combat, I really hope it's more impactful when played on my own computer in November, than it was playing on a remote desktop this week."
