'Cyberpunk 2077' Trailer Contains NSFW Reference To The Witcher

In one of the latest trailers for Cyberpunk 2077, eagle-eyed viewers spied a reference to CD Projekt Red's The Witcher, and it's definitely NSFW.

Night City Wire events explore the world of Night City, and i "2077 in Style," it gives us an appraisal of its fashion industry and why looks are everything. There are four trends: Kitsch, Entropism, Neomilitarism, and Neokitsch. The first prioritises style over everything else, with bright neon pops of colour combined with sleek chrome and glitzy implants. Entropism arrived after the fourth corporate war, and cuts perhaps the most recognisable silhouettes with regular, unassuming clothes and utilitarian augmentations.

With Neomilitarism, the clue is in the name, and it's predominantly the corpos who wear these bold yet dark outfits. And, lastly, the spoiled offspring of celebrities, business magnates, and reality stars developed Neokitsch. It's all about taking those principles of style, and then pushing them to the next level of superficiality with mummy and daddy's money. Anyway, ignoring all of this interesting worldbuilding for one of the most anticipated games of this year, there's a magazine titled "MILFGAARD" visible for a split-second in this trailer.

Nilfgaard is, of course, one of the kingdoms in The Witcher. I doubt that the high and mighty Emperor Emhyr var Emreis would be especially thrilled to know that the name of his realm has been parodied on the cover of a saucy magazine. However, there is evidence that Ciri may have visited Night City while she was evading the Wild Hunt.

Describing one of these dimensions, she tells Geralt that the people she saw "had metal in their heads, waged war from a distance, using things similar to megascopes." She saw no horses in this place, and instead, everyone travelled in their own "flying ship." She stayed here for almost half a year, which is more than enough time to become acquainted with the locals. Ergo, will we bump into Ciri while we're strolling around Night City?

Well, no. It's not likely, seeing as Cyberpunk 2077 director Adam Badowski was not a fan of the concept. "We are not Kingdom Hearts," he told Polygon in 2018. "We are not joining universes, and I know that there are a lot of fans on the team and they would like to have Ciri in the game. But I am totally against it, still." CEO Marcin Iwiński was a little more open to the idea, and in the two years that have passed, perhaps Badowski changed his mind and Ciri does have a cameo in the game.

We'll have to wait and see. Cyberpunk 2077 launches for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia on November 19.
