Following a slew of speculation over the state of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it will not be delayed for the fourth time, and it will be released on December 10th.
Earlier this week, an industry insider claimed that the developers on the anticipated dystopian RPG are "unhappy" right now, and that the game may launch in 2021 as a result. This story was bolstered when it was noticed that there is no officially stated launch date in the bio of the Cyberpunk 2077's Twitter account. And, the studio itself hasn't been especially positive regarding the delay. Joint CEO Adam Kicinski and vice president of business development Michal Nowakowski sounded reluctant to sign off on the December 10th launch date when speaking to investors after the announcement.
"We feel - maybe not comfortable, but confident," said Kicinski, with Nowakowski replying to a different question on whether or not December 10th would be the final launch date with: "that's more or less what I'm saying, I guess - yes." I don't know about you, but those answers don't fill me with optimism. No wonder that people were already speculating that the game would be pushed to 2021 owing to CD Projekt Red's lofty goals and the hefty day-zero patch it would receive. However, the studio has shut this down with a reaffirmation that the game is on track.

"As a rule, we don't comment on rumors or speculation," said a representative to IGN in response to a request for a comment on the rumours. "But I will confirm we were just taking time to update all of our assets to reflect the new launch date of December 10th." Stated previously, the studio cites the colossal volume of work required to ensure parity between all nine versions of the game as the reason for the latest delay. Furthermore, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account now shows the new date on its header, so there's no grey area when it comes to the when and where of the game's arrival.
Unfortunately, CD Projekt Red has been criticised heavily for enacting mandatory crunch and six-day work weeks. "We're aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do," said the studio in the announcement of the third delay. Yet, owing to the fact that the company's share price has decreased by 25% since August, it goes to show that money talks.
Cyberpunk 2077 comes to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, PC, and Stadia on December 10th, 2020.
