‘Zack Snyder's Justice League’ Was A "Global Phenomenon", HBO Admits

In reaction to the news that Zack Snyder's original vision for Justice League would be released, fans were so overcome with emotion that some destroyed their copies of the theatrical cut of film with abandon. In 2017, Joss Whedon was hired by Warner Bros to address the issues with Snyder's direction, but sadly, the death of Snyder's daughter led to his departure from the project.

Whedon's interpretation of Justice League was ultimately incompatible with Snyder's approach to the movie, losing Warner Bros about $60 million and accruing mixed reviews from fans and critics. So, with the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max earlier this year, hundreds and hundreds of fans were going to be proven very right or very wrong.

Well, you're here and you know the answer to that. It's the bottom line that really changes a company's tune here, though, and it sounds like HBO Max are thrilled with the performance of the movie. Priya Dogra, president of WarnerMedia which is the parent company of HBO, expressed that the film was a "global phenomenon" in a promotion for the launch of the streaming service in Europe. While we don't have the actual stats to back that up yet, fans are already asking for the Snyderverse to be renewed with enviable enthusiasm.

The Batman, which is on track to release in March 2022, originally would have had Ben Affleck reprise his role as the caped crusader. Yet, in 2019, it transpired that the actor had stepped away from the project, leaving Robert Pattinson to step into his shoes.

In fact, this new story is set on Earth-2, meaning that it isn't connected to the DC multiverse at all. Still, there's a lot of hype for the film which has also brought on board Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Penguin and Paul Dano as Riddler.
