Revealed at The Game Awards 2020, The Callisto Protocol is aiming to be the scariest game ever released for PC and console. Now, usually we'd laugh at such claims - but this is coming from a studio with some pedigree.

The Callisto Protocol is in development now at Striking Distance Studios - a company set up by Glen Schofield, who was executive producer on the original Dead Space of 2008. And, NGL here guys, this new game is giving off big Dead Space vibes. And we're very much here for it - spare pants, in hand.

Schofield appeared on the Game Awards stream, briefly, to promise that his team is working on "the single most scariest game for PC and consoles". Check out the debut trailer for The Callisto Protocol below.

Given Schofield's later experience as co-director and producer on a trio of Call of Duty titles, including Advanced Warfare and WWII, we're expecting The Callisto Protocol to be as action-orientated as it is soaked in survival horror. On the YouTube page for the trailer above, the game bills itself as a "story-driven, single-player survival horror game".

The Callisto Protocol is due for release for (presumably!) PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC, and Game Awards presenter Geoff Keighley stated that there'd be more information on the game coming in 2021. Consider us: interested. And very, very ready to cut off their limbs.
