Awesome Dead Space Cosplay Is So Detailed It Looks Like A Movie Prop

This amazing cosplay of Isaac Clarke from the iconic Dead Space series has us contemplating if this is the real life or if this is just fantasy, with an awesome animated nod to the games integrated on the suit's spine.

When I first saw the game, I remember being utterly, utterly shocked at Dead Space. I could not believe that a game like that could ever have gotten the green light. The player, as systems engineer Isaac Clarke, must embark onto the USG Ishimura after its communications went strangely silent. Inside the ship, the crew has been killed and their corpses have transformed into Necromorphs - awful, twisted and bloodthirsty creatures that attack anything on sight. Those monsters absolutely messed me up. Developer EA Redwood Shores explained that the shape and structure of Necromorphs are the remains of their victims. Their scythe-like protrusions are the bones, tentacles are the intestines, talons are hands and feet, fangs are sharpened jawbones. "There's a layer that's the body horror aspect, but there's also a part of it that involves coming up with creepy shapes that trigger something in people," said creative director Ben Wanat. Really taking the "reduce, reuse, recycle" motto too seriously there, pals.

Dead Space 2 was 10 years old in January of this year, and I still can't stomach watching the needle scene. Check out our retrospective on the game below.

Reddit user SunlightofAstora (also known as Johnny Goodwill IRL) uploaded a video of himself in Isaac Clarke's engineer RIG hazardous suit and the response has been mega. Why? On the spine of the suit, Goodwill has lined lights all the way up that change colour from red to blue. This is a nice little nod to the way that Dead Space tells the player how much health Isaac has left during his excursion onto the Ishimura. He's also found space for the Stasis Module Energy indicator on his right shoulder which is illuminated too.

"Dude you just made me wanna play the first game all over again. Brilliant work by the way," said one fan. "Shut the front door. That's awesome," added another, yet the overall sentiment can be summed up in this comment from Reddit user BrainDeadAnimal: "You put more effort into this suit than I have in existing." It's heartwarming to see, especially as Goodwill has been working on this suit since 2018. "It's all hand crafted with Eva foam, I drafted the whole thing from scratch, all the armor pieces, helmet, boots, rig, jumpsuit, plasma cutter... every bit of it," explained the cosplayer. Even Dead Space art director Ian Milham had to do a double take when the photos went viral.
