The rumours were true! It looks as if EA Motive is officially developing a reboot of the classic survival horror series Dead Space!

Dead Space was a celebrated franchise back in the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 days. The series' original developer Visceral released two incredible titles that are still regarded by many as among the best horror games today. Dead Space 3 was, unfortunately, not very good. In its infinite wisdom, EA then decided single-player horror just didn't make enough money, and put the series to bed. Visceral was shut down just a few years later.

The good news? It's finally back! Take a look at the reveal trailer below:

As great as the trailer looks, and as excited as we undoubtedly are, it doesn't give much away does it? A previous report from GamesBeat suggests that EA Motive's (the studio behind last year's wonderful Star Wars: Squadrons) Dead Space remake is essentially a reimagining of the first game in the series. That means new content and gameplay features, much like Capcom's recent Resident Evil remakes. Sounds super promising to us.

We know that Dead Space will be a new-gen exclusive, meaning it's coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. Beyond that, It's not clear exactly when we'll see more of this Dead Space reboot, nor is it apparent when it'll finally see the light of day.

For now, let's all just bask in the immense satisfaction of seeing a classic survival horror series we all assumed had died a long, long time ago coming back to life.
