The Merc with a Mouth has finally and officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but perhaps not in the way that you expected. Deadpool, played by the ever-sarcastic Ryan Reynolds, has had his first crossover with the rest of the MCU in an advert for Reynold's next film, Free Guy. In true Deadpool fashion, the YouTube video is completely fourth-wall-breaking, self-referential, and pokes fun at anything and everything.
Deadpool has been kept away from the MCU action as his rights were owned by 20th Century Fox. But that's since been folded into Disney and, by extension, sits right next to Marvel. The merc has now taken his first step, as this YouTube video shows him reacting to the trailer of Free Guy with Korg, the Kronan character who starred in Thor: Ragnarok, and played by Taika Waititi.
You can watch the reaction video featuring Ryan Renolds as Deadpool and Taika Waititi as Korg here....
The joke here is obviously that both Ryan and Taika play characters in the upcoming Free Guy as well as Marvel's characters. Them reacting to their own acting and the upcoming project is rather amusing, to say the least - you can get a good chuckle or two from watching.
Advert
Ryan put the video on Twitter with the caption, "If you include Deadpool's cocaine rider, this is the most expensive reaction video ever made". Wouldn't like to speculate on the truth of that one, frankly. The YouTube video description says: "Two members of the MCYouTube react to the upcoming film Free Guy featuring Ryan Reynolds and Taika Waititi. Free Guy. In theatres and definitely NOT streaming on August 13th."
Deadpool, it's good to have you finally, officially, appearing in a (mostly) official MCU capacity. We can't wait until your third film, which is part of the MCU - but as that's a little way down the line, we'll be happy to watch Free Guy on August 13, 2021.
