'Destroy All Humans 2' Remake Is Apparently On The Way

THQ Nordic appears to be teasing that a remake of Destroy All Humans! 2 is on the horizon, in a sneaky Easter egg at the end of a promotional video for a Steam Sale. Well, each to their own, I suppose.

Our pal Phil had a whale of a time with Destroy All Humans! when it launched in July 2020. "Although 15 years have gone by, within seconds of touching down on planet Earth, it feels like you never left," he said, and praised the respect the remake had for its original foundations. "It's clear to see that Black Forest Games have worked very hard to stay true to the original game, further enhancing already existing features which fans loved from the original, in the hopes of allowing for a more-polished finish for a new era of gaming."

To those unfamiliar with the premise of Destroy All Humans!, it's very much what you see is what you get. Crypto-137, a member of an alien species named the Furons, reaches Earth to extract DNA from human brains as their race is doomed to extinction if they do not harvest pure genetic material. In his quest, Crypto annihilates, obliterates, and liquidates anything in his path with an arsenal of bizarre weapons, leading to ridiculous emergent scenarios and ever-so-moreish chaos. The original games were iconic for their goofy humour and pleasing graphics, and it was even described as "Grand Theft Alien" at one point.

If this is all sounding like your cup of tea, then the remake is half-off in Steam's Midweek Madness, knocking its price down to £12. THQ Nordic and Black Forest Games released a specially specific trailer to encourage curious people to purchase Destroy All Humans!, but it's a short scene at the end of the video that's got tongues wagging. Crypto, stood next to the title, idles with his disintegrator ray but it turns out that he isn't alone. A second Crypto, boasting flashier armour, peeps round the corner and asks, "Are you done yet, 137?" The other Crypto tells him to wait his turn, as he's "only getting started."

Now, to me, this sounds like there might be Destroy All Humans! DLC in the works, and Destroy All Humans! 2 protagonist Crypto-138 will feature in the new content. Alternatively, Crypto-138 might be getting his very own remake. At the moment, the publisher and developer have kept mum on the possibility, but sales of the remake did exceed THQ Nordic's expectations. We'll keep you in the loop when we know more.
