Donald Trump Suspended From Twitch To 'Minimise Harm' During Transition

Following the insurrection and violence at Capitol Hill on January 6, multiple social media platforms have taken action against the current President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. Facebook and Instagram have indefinitely banned the political figure, while Twitter removed tweets and banned his account from tweeting for 12 hours. Now, Twitch has also taken a stance too.
During a speech on January 6, Trump used language with implied violence which led to his MAGA supporters marching on the Capitol Building. Trump was quoted saying things like "If you don't fight like hell, you're not gonna have a country anymore. We're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue- I love Pennsylvania Avenue. And we're going to the Capitol."
Once there, the mob pushed back law enforcement and broke into the Capitol Building, ransacking the rooms they could get access to before being pushed out with a 6pm curfew. During these riots and violence a total of four people died, including one woman who was shot inside the building when trying to push through a door. Many other people were injured and bomb threats were reported.

As a result, many are calling for Trump to be banned from social media platforms at least until he is removed from office with the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden. Twitter issued a temporary ban after the initial violence, Facebook and Instagram have imposed an indefinite ban, while YouTube and Snapchat also issued bans. Now, Twitch has done the same.
Speaking to TechCrunch, a Twitch spokesperson said: "In light of yesterday's shocking attack on the Capitol, we have disabled President Trump's Twitch channel. Given the current extraordinary circumstances and the President's incendiary rhetoric, we believe this is a necessary step to protect our community and prevent Twitch from being used to incite further violence."
The quote continues: "We are focused on minimising harm leading up to the transition of government and will reassess his account after he leaves office."
Twitch also removed the famous PogChamp emote from the site after the violence at Capitol Hill, as the individual depicted in the emote encouraged further violence. And strangely during the protests, some right-wing onlookers accused the rioters to be Antifa due to the mark of the Outsider from the Dishonored games.
