This Animal Crossing Horror Short Is A Straight-Up Nightmare

Ah, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a game that has been nothing but comforting for us in the pandemic. Having a little island that you get to build up how you like, fish, build, decorate, collect pieces of art, and more is just so relaxing when the world outside is figuratively falling apart. Many of us spent a lot of time on our islands over the past year and it's a safe place for us to be whoever we want to be and live out a little perfect fantasy - well that's until this horror short came out.

DON'T PEEK is a horror short that released at the end of 2020, which might change your mind about Animal Crossing: New Horizons being your dream island, and perhaps more your nightmare. The short horror film shows what happens when something from the game world tries to make contact with a woman playing her Switch late at night.

The horror short from Julian Terry has done so well (over a million views on YouTube), that it's going to be made into a feature film. Julian, the director of the short, will be taking on the role of director for the full film and Timur Bekmambetov will be handling production. So, Animal Crossing is a horror title how, got it - I'll only be playing it during daylight hours from now on just so I feel safe too.

We really loved Animal Crossing in 2020, actually, we named it one of the best games of the year without a doubt. Although Nintendo doesn't need any more good press on the game, it's nice to see that the effect of the game on people has seeped into other creative avenues. Maybe New Horizons won't be at the centre of the full film because of licensing but surely gaming will be part of whatever terrible fate awaits some poor souls.
