Developer Techland has just given us our best look yet at Dying Light 2 in action. The long-gestating open-world zombie game was shown off in much greater detail at last as part a brand-new Twitch show that aims to offer fans a series of regular updates that answer our burning questions.

Perhaps the most exciting question that was answered in today's stream? Dying Light 2 is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on December 7, 2021.

Take a look at the Dying Light 2 gameplay trailer below!

The new trailer was released as part of a brand-new show called Dying 2 Know. We're told this is the first of many instalments, with the show involving developer interviews, gameplay reveals, and other big news to do with Dying Light 2 in the build-up to its release later this year.

Dying Light 2 will follow the adventures of Aiden Caldwell as he explores the city of Villedor, believed to be the "last bastion of humanity" in a world that has been ravaged by the infected. Villedor found some success in keeping the monsters at bay by erecting a series of high walls and spraying the streets with a potent chemical weapon that killed any zombies within the city stone dead. The problem? Those same chemicals have ensured that no life can grow at the street level, forcing humans to move to the rooftops to live, work, and grow organic produce.

As with the original Dying Light, night and day will feel markedly different. Day sees humans take to the streets in their own set factions - factions you as the player can choose to help or hinder, with your decisions having consequences that can affect the entire city. Nighttime brings all humans together in their complete and total fear of the infected monsters, who pretty much stop at nothing to chase you down during some intense parkour and combat sequences.

Speaking of parkour, we learned there are twice as many moves to learn this time around, and a quick look at combat confirms big crunchy weapons, brutal stealth, and plenty of decapitations.

Techland will have more to share about Dying Light 2 in the coming months, but for now? Let's just be happy that we finally, finally know when it's coming. Mark those calendars and get December 7 booked off.
