Remember Dying Light? No, not Dying Light 2, the sequel which was delayed earlier this year, but the original game that released back in 2015. Well, it seems that it's finally - and perhaps somewhat surprisingly - getting a new DLC. It's entitled Hellraid and is set for release this summer.

You can check out the teaser trailer below (here is a direct link), though it really is just a hint of what to expect. There's no gameplay to look at, but it does give you a good idea of the environments and atmosphere you'll be plunged into, should you decide to pick up Hellraid. It'll be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, though the price hasn't yet been revealed.

Here's the full description from the Steam page:

"No one knows where the strange arcade machine came from. One day the residents of the Tower just found it in the basement after an odd power outage. They took it upstairs unaware of what they had come across.

"Shake up your Dying Light experience with the upcoming paid DLC introducing a new game mode based on Techland's unreleased first-person fantasy slasher Hellraid. Explore a new dungeon area, arm yourself with brand-new weapons, and face vicious enemies straight from the depths of Hell. Tackle this fresh challenge alone or join forces with your friends for a thrilling co-op."

Techland

Developer Techland was also responsible for first-person shooter Call of Juarez back in 2006, as well as 2011's zombie-fest, Dead Island. Dying Light 2 was first announced back in 2018 and had a release window for spring 2020 - but this was put on hold indefinitely back in January.

Hellraid was originally pitched as a first-person fantasy game in 2013 (thanks, Eurogamer) and was to be a kind of mashup of The Elder Scrolls series and Dying Light. It was ultimately put to one side in order for the developers to better concentrate on Dying Light.

This is what Techland's CEO Pawel Marchewka told Eurogamer back in June 2015: "...putting on hold means we want some of the resources to concentrate on Dying Light, and once they do what needs to be done we will come back to Hellraid."

Obviously, that never happened and it's coming to Dying Light as DLC instead. Perhaps the release of the Hellraid DLC will coincide with news on Dying Light 2? We'll have to wait and see.
