With the Battlefield reveal just around the corner, it seems EA is making some changes to guarantee the series' continued success. Byron Beede has worked as the general manager at Activision for both Call of Duty and Destiny, and spent a whole 19 years at the company. Now the executive has been hired by EA to grow the Battlefield brand, which is an exciting move for the franchise's fans.

As IGN reports, Beede will be working on the future of Battlefield and helping it develop. Although he will be involved in the release of the sixth Battlefield game and the subsequent mobile title, his attention will mostly be dedicated to expanding the brand. EA tells IGN that the Beede joining the Battlefield team "signals a strategic, long-term commitment to the growth of the franchise".

Here are some of our favourite Battlefield wins and fails...

It's an interesting change in direction from the way Battlefield games have been released in the past. Beede has experience with two games that are based on constant updates and releases. Both the Call of Duty franchise and the two Destiny games act more like live services than Battlefield has in the past. It feels likely that the new Battlefield will lean into becoming a long-term live-service game, and that's where Beede will be able to help in the long term.

There has been a storm of rumours surrounding the release of Battlefield 6 - including that it'll simply be called Battlefield. Grainy gif footage, screenshots, and more have all made it into the wild. Though we can speculate all we want on the leaks, it's not long until we'll have a better understanding of what the game will look like, as EA will reveal its debut trailer on June 9.
