From developer Darkflow Software and publisher Gaijin Entertainment, Enlisted is a MMO first-person shooter that takes place in pivotal battles during World War II, and the gameplay shows that the team is dedicated to historical accuracy.

Announced in 2016 through a crowdfunding campaign, Enlisted and its accompanying online content to come was planned to place the players at the heart of its development. "Enlisted is an ambitious undertaking, unlike any game we have ever created. It will be a first person shooter decided by the fans, for the fans," explained producer Alexander Nagorny at the time. "They will have direct input into what we create, including things like campaigns, game modes, even which platforms after PC we will support." Following successful playtests over the course of 2020, the game became available on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 for free. One of the positives about this fact is that there is an existing community of players to join, and moderators of the game's subreddit have already thrown together a guide for newcomers. Handy that.

Get a glimpse of Enlisted here in its new gameplay trailer released by the developer during the Future Games Show.

Offering more than ten squad classes from assault to sniper to tank crews, the battles are as accurate and as adrenalised as possible with hundreds of soldiers on the field at any point in the game. These historical events include the Battle of Berlin, Battle for Moscow, Battle of Tunisia, and Invasion of Normandy. Moreover, the weapons, vehicles and aircraft have been recreated according to models and photographs from World War II, so this will be a treat if you know your military history.

In a question and answer session held today, the developer has also shared some insight in what's to come for Enlisted. Female soldiers as well as different soldier classes are on the horizon, and customisation options for your soldier such as their name and their likeness will be implemented soon as it is a highly requested feature. However, the team won't be improving the handling of tanks. "It is difficult to control a tank in real life!" explained Darkflow Software.

"Especially a WWII tank, which was a mass-produced weapon designed for maximum efficiency at minimum cost. Guidance gears are not as accurate as you might wish for, observation devices limit visibility, and powder gases after each shot make it difficult to be inside. However, such vehicles are capable of leading an entire team to a capture point alone, covering it with their thick armor and destroying dozens of targets along the way." If this sort of challenge is right up your street, then dive into Enlisted on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5.
