'Fall Guys' Charity Auction Raises Huge Amount After Surprise Last Minute Bid

Two weeks ago the Fall Guys Twitter account announced that it would auction off a chance for brands and streamers (well, anybody really, but an auction is all about stumping up the largest amount of wonga) to have their own custom designed costume added to the game for players to wear.

After a lot of back and forth and some truly gargantuan bids, the auction closed as of 8pm BST on Monday, with a whopping $1 million dollar last minute bid being the winner. So, who managed to grab the final bid? Well, it was actually a four-way joint effort, and you might be familiar with their names.

G2 Esports, Aim Lab and streamers Ninja and Mr. Beast clubbed together to launch the successful bid, and it looks like each participant will get their own individual skins, as opposed to the singular skin that was initially being offered up.

All of the proceeds will be going to video game charity SpecialEffect, who make customised gaming setups, controllers, chairs, visual aids etc for gamers with disabilities, to empower them to play in a way that caters to their individual needs. It's a truly remarkable charity that never settles for 'good enough' in their work, consistently going above and beyond in their exceptional efforts.

The fun doesn't stop there, though. Ninja took to his own Twitter account following the successful bid announcement to say that he, along with G2 Esports, Aim Lab and Mr. Beast, will be setting up a charity stream where they play Fall Guys and attempt to raise even more money for SpecialEffect, on top of their $1 millions.

All told, the saga has been a testament to the power of social media. Turning what was a tongue-in-cheek attempt by brands to piggy-back off the success of the game into a huge charity auction. Hopefully this can inspire other developers to do the same, and encourage more multi-million dollar companies to put their money where their mouth is and do something good in return for all that free exposure they want.
