Mediatonic's Fall Guys became an instant hit when it launched earlier this summer, thanks to its accessible gameplay and eye-catching aesthetic. The titular Fall Guys, in particular, are brilliantly designed. Instantly recognisable and highly customisable, watching the little jellybeans fumble and stumble around obstacle courses is genuinely hilarious.
That's why I'm so sorry to be the one to come along and shatter the illusion, but the formerly adorable Fall Guys are hiding some terrible secrets. Mediatonic's senior concept artist Tudor Morris posted on Instagram his take on what lurks within a Fall Guy, and it's horrifying.
"Sometimes I like to ruin nice things, and seeing as I'm working on Fall Guys, and I love me some speculative anatomy, I thought I'd post some artwork up for you all," Morris wrote on his Instagram post. "You have options for how you interpret this, but I refuse to comment to elaborate."
As you can see below, Morris' interpretation shows an ET-like creature with an elongated neck and protruding eyeballs that reach to meet the slits in the Fall Guys' mask. It's also worth noting that the official Fall Guys Twitter account has endorsed this design as canon, so this is what's inside your jellybean avatar... whether you like it or not.
Well, you asked for it...
This is official lore now
• Human shown for scale
• Fall Guys are 183cm (6ft)
• This Fall Guy is happy, look into his eyes
• We can't take it back

"This is a canonical representation of what's inside a fall guy, we knew from the start that they weren't as marketable like this so we gave them nice little cuddly suits," Morris stressed. "The important thing to bear in mind is that, whatever the interpretation you take away, they are very happy little beans."
There we are then. Fall Guys might look like Satan's nightmare children, but they're still "happy little beans" at their terrifying core. For now, anyway. As one of my colleagues pointed out when I started writing this article, the jellybeans are reminiscent of a stage two evolution like Metapod or Kakuna... Exactly what happens when the creature inside the Fall Guy decides that it wants to come out?
