Earlier this year, a beloved Twitch streamer Byron 'Reckful' Bernstein passed away. He was known as an incredibly supportive content creator and a big part of the World of Warcraft community - he was only 31. Many viewers still go back to watch his content that's been preserved on Twitch, but many have been worried about its preservation after DMCA takedown notices have been issued to many big streamers.

DMCA notices are copyright-related. If you use music you don't own on platforms like Twitch or YouTube, then the legal owner of the music can demand you take down the content with it in. This extends to past streams and content that people have made - and if you fail to take this content down then platforms will ban or penalise your channel in a more serious way, and delete the offending content themselves.

Recently there has been a large wave of these takedown notices sent to streamers and people are unsure if Reckful's account will be banned due him not being able to take down the content himself. As a result, fans are trying to save as much work as possible before Twitch move to delete it all for good.

Nick 'nmploi' Polom and Malena Tudi, according to Game Rant, are two such fans trying to preserve as much content as they can on an external server. Once it's there, hopefully, they can redistribute the content on a non-monetised platform or even hand over the rights to a new YouTube Channel to Reckful's relatives to own.

At the very least there will be a copy of the content somewhere, so Reckful's work that was admired by so many is saved. He continues to be an inspiration for many content creators and streamers on Twitch and within World of Warcraft - even Blizzard added a Rogue to the game by the name Reckful to commemorate him.
