Excited for Far Cry 6? Want to check out the last main game in the series before it launches in a few months? Good news! Far Cry 5 will be entirely free to play for a limited time, starting this weekend.

Ubisoft has confirmed that you can get your mitts on Far Cry 5 for the low, low price of nothing from August 5 at 2pm to August 9 at 9pm (your local time). Even better, you can start your download right now so you don't waste any time come the weekend.

Take a look at some of our very own Far Cry 6 gameplay below:

If you're keen, all you have to do is follow this link and select your platform. The free weekend applies to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia, so hopefully nobody should miss out.

Oh, and once the free weekend is over your progression will be carried over if you decide to fork out money for the game. But between you and me, I reckon you could smash through the whole thing in a weekend if you really put your mind to it.

If you've never played Far Cry 5, I do recommend checking it out. Set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, you work to liberate the people of the land from a fanatical cult of extremists who have become disillusioned by the American dream. No real-world parallels there. Nope. No sir.

As far as gameplay goes, Far Cry 5 doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel - but I'm not sure it needs to. It's Far Cry! You know what you're getting: slick action, lots of guns, and a gorgeous open world to explore. If nothing else, it'll allow you to get reacquainted with the series in time for Far Cry 6, so consider getting stuck in. Or don't. I'm not your mum.
