I would die for him.

Far Cry 6 is official, and it looks set to be a pretty gritty open world action game. Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito plays the game's primary bad guy, a ruthless leader called Antón Castillo who wants to restore the island of Yara to former glories... by violently stamping out a revolution.

The game's reveal trailer certainly painted a bleak picture, with rioting in the streets and Castillo basically goading his son into dropping a live grenade onto a crowd of protesters. Given the current climate, that's... yikes.

Certainly, it looks like there'll be a lot to chew over when Far Cry 6 comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X on February 18th next year. Some really weighty themes. But also there's a sausage dog called Chorizo, and that's really all I care about at this point. Look at him below. Just look at his little face.

Far Cry 5 allowed the player to roam the open world with a few fierce animal companions, including a bear and a mountain lion. I'm sure the sequel will offer similar options, but I don't want anything else on my side if I can travel with this diminutive prince.

The wheelchair he drags around will probably lull enemies into a false sense of security, which is exactly when I'd hope Chorizo goes in for the kill. Ubisoft has described the pooch as an "adorable wiener dog who's as cute as he is lethal," so I can't wait to see him in action.

Chorizo isn't the only way in which Far Cry 6 will break from tradition, though. For the first time in the series' history, the upcoming game will include a substantial city as part of its massive open world, in a move that should add some welcome twists to the standard gameplay.

"The verticality is a complete game-changer," narrative director Navid Khavari explained of the urban setting. "Being able to run across rooftops, use back alleys, fight against some of the toughest opponents in the game in this setting, I think is really unique and fresh. And it completely changes the way the game feels."

But how will Chorizo join you in your rooftop dashes? I believe that he's a resourceful pooch, but leaping across buildings might be a little out of his depth. My fervent hope is that your character will be able to pick up Chorizo and carry him around during the more intense parkour sessions, but we'll have to wait and see.
