These days there aren't many games we can name that don't include require some extra spending somewhere. It could be cosmetics or characters - game developers are now widely using microtransactions in new releases. Now, though, EA is going to let you know just how much dosh you've spent on FIFA 21.

It's not too hard to lose track of the money you've spent for virtual goods - five quid here, five quid there over weeks, months, and years can really add up without you maybe even realising the amount you've spent. Now that changes as Electronic Arts is adding a new feature which allows you to see just how much time and money you've spent in its game.

Spotted by PC Gamer, FIFA Playtime is the new tool which will add some clarification to your stats. In the latest patch notes for FIFA 21 it's mentioned as "a new suite of tools that enable players to have more control and visibility over how they play, and can be accessed through the main menu, FUT, and VOLTA FOOTBALL."

The purpose of Playtime is partly for avid players to know exactly what they're spending, keep track of how much they're playing, or if you're a parent or guardian, keep an eye on those metrics for your kids. It's at its base a parental controls unit, but it makes it a lot easier for anyone to keep an eye on their gaming habits.

It's not uncommon for people to neglect real life obligations when they have access to fun games so EA's Playtime does actually sound quite useful. "FIFA Playtime gives you an overview of the amount of time you've spent in FIFA 21 and lets you set limits on how you play. You'll be able to choose how many matches you can jump into, the amount of FIFA Points you purchase and the number of FUT Packs opened with FUT Coins or purchased with FIFA Points."

You can learn more about the Playtime from the EA blog post about the new tools here.
