Publisher Electronic Arts has officially announced Alex Scott will appear in FIFA 22 as the video game series' first-ever English-speaking female commentator. And it only took 27 years. That's what I call progress.
Scott is a former professional footballer who played for Arsenal in the Women's Super League and made an impressive 140 appearances for England during her career. She also represented Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games, making her CV approximately 8 million times more impressive than mine.
Scott described her role in FIFA 22 as a "big moment", both personally and professionally. She'll feature in FIFA 22 as a "goal commentator", meaning that she'll occasionally chime in on the full 90-minute commentary every now and then to report on goals from other games.
Take a look at FIFA 22 in action below:

"Representation is crucial and the inclusion of an English-speaking female commentator on FIFA is game-changing," she said in a press release from EA. "The impact it will have is simply stratospheric. It's a big moment for me personally and professionally.
"It's an honour to be part of the FIFA gaming institution, alongside some of my brilliant presenting colleagues. Whilst I am the first English-speaking female broadcaster to feature in FIFA, I will certainly not be the last. I know this is just the start of stronger female footballing representation from EA SPORTS and the football community as a whole."
Happy to finally share the news that I joined the FIFA family and will be commentating for #FIFA22! :raised_hands::video_game:
