'Fortnite' Is Screening An Entire Christopher Nolan Movie For Free

In an unlikely partnership, last night saw the latest trailer for Christopher Nolan's Tenet debut in Fortnite. Not exactly the kind of collaboration I ever would have expected. Then again, I never predicted we'd see the likes of Travis Scott and deadmau5 perform "live" sets in the Epic Games-developed battle royale, either. So what the heck do I know?

Given the incredible number of players Fortnite continues to attract, showing off a trailer for an upcoming film in-game is actually a pretty smart move. But the Nolan/Epic team-up isn't stopping there. As confirmed by The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley on Twitter, Fortnite will soon be streaming an "iconic" Nolan film in its entirety via the game's new (violence-free) Party Royale mode.

Keighley left us with little clue as to what the film could be, especially since "iconic" could arguably apply to many of Nolan's films. My guesses would be The Dark Knight or Inception, but I guess it could also be Dunkirk? It probably won't be The Prestige, which is a shame. Love that film. Love any film with David Bowie in it, to be honest.

Given that Fortnite has previously introduced Batman content in-game, Nolan's second - and best - Batman movie is probably the safest bet. In my humble opinion, The Dark Knight is easily his best work to date, and should easily draw in the virtual crowds. Given the fact that attending cinemas and live shows is no longer possible in the current climate, it's kind of cool that Fortnite is offering this alternative.

I'm certainly not a huge fan of the game, but even I'm tempted to check this screening out to see what the vibe is like. It could be awful and make me wish I'd just stuck to something on Netflix. But it could also be a once-in-a-lifetime social experience. The screening is coming later this summer, so we shouldn't have too long to wait before we can find out for sure what the film is, and if it'll be worth getting involved in.

Just as long as it's not The Dark Knight Rises. I don't care what people say, that is a bad sequel and a dull film. I'll never watch it again.
